Scare Tactics
Considering a poker online raise? Good for you-there are lots of reasons to place a raise in poker-to fatten the pot when you have a good casino hand, to buy a pot when you’ve got a bad hand, to prevent any further raises when you’re chasing a hand, and to scare out your opponent when you’re paying head’s up are just a few uses or poker’s most exciting move. It’s not a good idea to just go in and raise the poker online hand haphazardly, though, unless you’re trying to get knocked out and go home early. Even though raising puts everyone else on defense, don’t forget that your chips go on the table first. If you’re trying to scare everybody out of the pot with a good-sized raise, you’d better know what you’re getting yourself into.
If you’re trying to get people to fold, knowing your table will help you figure out whether or not raising is a good idea. If your table has one or more loose players who will call anything, then your raise is pretty likely to be called and you won’t be able to steal the pot. In addition, look on the table and see if there are lots of outs on the table that might entice someone to call your raise.
