A Breathtaking Pewter Christmas Ornament

by admin

I never used to think of pewter during the holiday season. This time of year was always associated with silver and gold. That was until I received a pewter Christmas ornament as a keepsake present a few years ago. The beautiful addition to my holiday decorations was the beginning of a new tradition for me.

Most of our holiday decorations are chosen for special reasons. When I received the pewter Christmas ornament I found a new appreciation for a metal that is commonly overlooked. At first glance I thought that the decorations was made of silver but I found more weight and depth than I expected from a sterling item.

The pewter Christmas ornament was a small wreath. The detail on the decoration was absolutely breathtaking and I was amazed by how intricate the fine lines were on the lovely piece. This ornament was a true work of art and I knew at a glance that this was going to be the first of a collection of pewter ornaments in my home.

I chose to take a unique approach to my collection. Since my very first pewter Christmas ornament was a wreath I decided to build upon that theme. I chose an artificial wreath at first to display my small collection. I searched for one pewter ornament after another in various stores as well as online.

I finally came across a whole collection of small metal decorations made of this material. The investment in the collection was relatively little money and I had created a whole new way of presenting my first pewter Christmas ornament. The artificial wreath was the perfect display case for my decorations.

Many would think that I would want to include these items on my holiday tree. At first I had included my pewter Christmas ornament among the others on the tree. However, I really wanted to display the item separately or at least as part of a unique collection.

There was no way that I could afford to fill a whole tree with pewter ornaments so I decided to display the items on a smaller scale. The wreath was the perfect start and it also served as a great reminder of my very first pewter Christmas ornament. The collection fits perfectly on a wreath and there is no need to purchase more.

I decided to pitch the artificial wreath and opted to buy a new live one each year for the pewter Christmas ornaments. I love the fresh smell of the fur pine and I think that my collection deserves a quality display. This is the first decoration I present during the holiday season.

Great Artificial Christmas Tree

by admin

artificial-christmas-tree-33: word count = 434, keyword density = 1.4% or 1.9% with plurals

Although nothing beats a fresh Christmas tree, with its fragrant pine-needle scent, there are several reasons an artificial Christmas tree makes sense in certain situations. Some artificial Christmas trees are so realistic, you’d have to get quite close to tell the difference. If you’re a veteran decorator (and “un-decorator”) of Christmas trees, you know some of the disadvantages of the real thing, beautiful and fragrant as it may be. Let’s look at some of the reasons you might favor an artificial tree.

If you live in the city and have an apartment or condo on the third floor, it requires considerable effort to purchase, transport and install the tree before you ever start decorating.

Grandma and Grandpa may just not have the energy for the running around and muscling the tree in place. Getting the tree in your home and setting it up can be hard work.

Even if you’re physically up to it, you may simply not have the time. Sometimes an artificial Christmas tree just makes good sense in your situation.

It’s fun to let children have their own small Christmas tree in their room – they love gazing at the lights at night, with dreams of sugarplums in their heads. On the other hand, many parents worry about fire danger from a tree that’s too dry. An artificial Christmas tree resolves this worry.

Perhaps you want a white Christmas tree, to suit your taste or color scheme. Fresh trees do not come in white. Artificial Christmas trees do!

Unlike a fresh tree, an artificial Christmas tree is perfectly symmetrical, and this is an important point for some decorators. An artificial Christmas tree lasts for many years and may simply be stored away out of season, in a relatively small space. Most come in sections, easily and quickly fitted together when you’re ready to decorate.

To make up for the lack of that fresh tree fragrance, try using bowls of potpourri in strategic locations. You can even purchase spray scents that simulate fresh pine. A simmering pot of apple cider on the stove with cloves and sticks of cinnamon creates a heavenly fragrance all around the house.

If you’ve got your heart set on genuine fresh pine scent, gather or purchase pine branches to make into a garland for the fireplace or stair railing.

Probably one of the strongest points for an artificial tree is cleanup after New Year’s. After becoming entangled in lights, pierced by dry needles and decked with sap in your hair, you may go for the artificial Christmas tree next year! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Out of This World Christmas Gifts for Men

by admin

Buying presents for guys is never an easy task. Of course, many of us opt for the regular old stock of items that may or may not make a great splash. This year, why not take a different approach to choosing Christmas gifts for men? High tech gadgets are always winners as far as most men are concerned. Following are three outstanding ideas that make perfect Christmas gifts for men.

Professional guys may seem as if they are all work and no play. However, you can find great Christmas gifts for men that appeal to the working side as well as the playful side. Electronics offer wonderful options that allow a person to get in some quality relax time while on route to an important event.

A little downtime is always a good idea. It helps to keep the mind clear and the blood pressure down. One of the Christmas gifts for men that really stand out as a great way to get away from a stressful day at work is the portable DVD player. This device is perfect for the professional on the go.

Why tote around a laptop when you can take a break with a portable DVD player that is lightweight and convenient? This is one of my favorite Christmas presents for men that is just downright cool. If you know a professional on the move, you may want to look into this present.

How about a Flash Drive and MP3 Player combo? These Christmas gifts for men are winners each and every time. Skip the floppy discs and adopt a new way to transfer files from your laptop to your office computer. All this is available and music, too. How can you lose with this wining gift?

My last pick for Christmas gifts for men is the Video and MP3 Jukebox Recorder. This one hits a high note each and every time. Guys love that this unit stores pictures, plays videos and it can record up to 40 hours of video. This gadget is well-loved by teens and adults alike.

When it comes to Christmas gifts for men you can’t go wrong by going high tech. There are plenty of different options available for great presents for all the guys on your list. Whether you are shopping for a professional or a teen, there will be at least one great gift idea for you to consider.

Amazing Christmas Storage

by admin

I absolutely love the Christmas Holiday Season. There are so many activities and events that occur at this special time of the year. I take special care in preparing our home with lights, decorations candles and homemade goodies. We place lights on the out side of our home and decorate two live trees in the house along with several miniature trees. I also have two extensive holiday village that I place out. With all the decorations and dishware Christmas storage becomes quite an issue. I have found through the years that the greater amount of time I put into proper Christmas storage the better results I get.

We have an attic area that is formed in our bedroom due to the steep pitch of our roof. This area is about 30 feet long and 3 feet wide. We found large plastic bins to use for Christmas storage. The bins come in a variety of shapes, sizes and with varied features. The attic area gets very warm in the summer and cold in the winter so the things that are stored there cannot be affected by heat. I have found that on some ornaments that have glitter and other embellishments glued on them the glue may harden as a result of the temperature fluxes. For this reason the Christmas storage that I choose for the tree decorations are flat plastic boxes that can be slid under the bed in the spare bedrooms. For other items, like my village pieces the temperatures do not impact them. I try to keep as many of the original boxes and packaging for each item as possible. This does increase the space I need for Christmas storage, but it also prolongs the looks of the items. Also the boxes can be stacked neatly inside of the plastic bins without concern of breakage.

I do decorate in stages. The villages and the outdoor lights are put out the day after Thanksgiving. When I am putting away the Christmas storage I arrange the tubs so that the ones that are needed first are in the front. Each bin is clearly marked with permanent marker regarding what is in it. I also have numbered the bins so if my husband is putting them away he can arrange them numerically and I will have what I need first closest to the door.

Some items I dispose of at the end of each season. The small lights that are placed on the tree are very inexpensive and bulky to store. Also it seems that it takes hours to untangle the light strands each year. The small lights no longer are placed in Christmas storage; they are donated for events at the local school, and new ones are purchased each year.

If you take the time to organize your holiday items and pack them carefully the decorations and collectables will last for years. Due to my proper Christmas storage I have several items from my mother that will be passed on to my children.

A Wonderful Sea Shell Christmas Ornament

by admin

Just when I though I had found every holiday craft for the winter season I come across a wonderful idea on the Internet. As I was searching through the old crafts that we normally do during the holiday season I found a sea shell Christmas ornament that looked just like a Victorian purse. I had to investigate this ingenious idea.

There are tons of designs and patterns you can make into seashell Christmas ornaments that it boggles the mind. You would think that these decorations would have a beach feel to them because of the material but the sea shell Christmas ornament that I saw was very tradition in color and detail.

The shell is a typical oyster-type in shape and it is white in color. The designer added a bow to the end of the sea shell Christmas ornament that is attached. The open end and all around that perimeter of the object is covered with a small string of pearls. There is a little lace detail in the seashell ornament that makes it look very traditional and feminine.

I found that these adorable ornaments were less than ten dollars per dozen so I added them to my holiday shopping list. I only ordered a dozen because I know that I am going to make a sea shell Christmas ornament like these in the future.

I love using a model when I craft instead of a pattern because it gives me the opportunity to experiment a little bit with the material. Since I work with an old-fashioned theme in my holiday décor I was really attracted to the traditional looking sea shell Christmas ornament.

However, there are many different seashell designs that are really beautiful. These items would be perfect for anyone who has a nautical theme in their home as well. The sea shell Christmas ornament is a great way to bring a little of the beach indoors no matter where you live.

The items make great gifts, too. Just about everyone knows someone that has a room with a nautical theme in their home. Why not send this person a nice sea shell Christmas ornament made out of sand dollars? You could add a little note about how you would have liked to have sent real money.

Joking aside, I find that the sea shell Christmas ornament is a great holiday decoration that can be painted any color to go with any theme.
