Golf Equipment Isn’t Working

by admin

Golf equipment doesn’t work? Did that catch your attention? I hope so. Now keep reading.

Just the other day I was watching the Golf Channel and they were talking yet again about the latest and greatest drives and irons. This golf equipment (new technology) that has gotten totally out of hand, is making these companies a ton of money.

Why?

Because they prey on vulnerable, frustrated golfers looking to play better through golf equipment.

Here’s my beef!

It’s not working! I don’t care what these companies say…I see golfers everyday, buying new golf equipment and STILL not playing any better. It’s a known fact that the average golf handicap has not gone down in over 20 years!

It’s NOT the equipment that’s going to improve your game…it’s YOU!

You swing that club. You show up to the range or course. It all depends on your current physical condition how well you will swing…and especially for 18 holes.

Is that registering with you yet?

How many new clubs have you bought lately? Did it allow you to play better…consistently? Be honest. Don’t let your pride answer that question. Just state the facts. Are your scores lower? Do you swing with better consistency?

These are questions to constantly ask yourself to make sure you are seeing progress. If you’re not…then save your money and get working on YOU!

It’s always fun to see the new golf equipment that’s coming out…but your game is dependant on your physical capabilities, not compensations with golf equipment.

Project Discovery: The First Step to Strong Web Communication

by admin

You’re in a hurry to get your Web site going. You’ve got tight deadlines. But don’t let your haste get in the way of your success.

A company’s Web site should embody the company, reflect its values and strengthen its identity. When you pick your Web design team, make sure they are going to learn your business inside and out.

Good Web design firms know to start a project with as much information as possible. They gather it during the Discovery phase. Discovery encompasses a full-scale examination of the company and its objectives, leading to a set of goals on which the design team can focus. It includes extensive research into five key aspects of a company:

Know What You Want
If you don’t know where you’re going, how can your Web site get you there? Identifying the direction of a company helps decide how the Web site will function. The Web is a lucrative tool, but the Web design team must know what you’re building.

Careful Spending
With this in mind, you can anticipate the scope of the project. Your budget dictates that scope. A thorough discovery process maximizes that chance that money will be well spent.

Who You Are
Since your Web site is a primary point of contact between you and your customers, it must reflect and reinforce your brand. It’s not just about including your logo on every page. By providing an experience consistent with the soul of your company, a Web site strengthens your brand identity. Most importantly, it’s about making it easy to do business with you.

The Transaction Process
Your Web design team needs to know your sales cycle to determine where your Web site fits. Customers are increasingly going to the Internet to research products and make purchases. Does your Web site provide them with everything they need to buy? Your Web site should be a customer acquisition engine, drawing people in and leading them to a transaction.

What You’re Up Against
It’s imperative to study your competitors. What are they doing right? What are they doing wrong? Your Web site needs to be the best solution for your customers. Knowing what’s already out there helps you determine where you can make the difference.

A Smart Start
Good Web designers know that making a Web site takes more than creativity and skill. To create this extension of a company, you must know the company. Discovery allows for a greater understanding of the project and therefore, a richer result.

Book printing in the digital age

by admin

Book printing is one of your most important expenses that any publisher is ever going to make in his or her career. It is common knowledge that not all of these publishers have enough resources to cater to their printing needs. And of course, they do not want to lessen the impact of their books just because of the printing process used.

Digital printing is the technology now. Digital printing makes sense for small publishers. Most industry experts do not see this trend coming from large publishers. They are seen most prominently with small and self publishers who can afford to print and market their books on their own.

With the way things are going, it seems that more digital book printing services will be available in the future. This will give the self publisher even more choices. It will eventually drive the cost down too. Short run digital technology for black and white digital book printing has been around for a while now. The original “docutech” technology was designed for one purpose and that is to produce short run black and white books economically.

On the other hand, while there have been digital color presses on the market for some time now, their original intent was more of a commercial nature like ad sheets, postcards, etc. But not for digital book printers.

The full color digital printing presses have come to the point that full and four color printing is now possible. Digital book covers have been printed successfully for quite some time too.

Another advantage to digital printing is that you can use it for very short print runs. For example, if you want professional looking galleys to send to reviewers, you can print them digitally quickly and easily. Even if the entire book is not printed digitally, your galleys will look better and more professional if you print them this way.

It can be noted, however, that there is no real quantity discount when it comes to digital printing presses. Your unit cost stays more or less the same no matter what quantity you print. This will be great if you want a small number of copies. But if you want to make several thousand copies, It would not appear that great.

Besides, digital printing is generally more expensive than offset in quantities over 400. That is why many are opting to have their own digital printers at home to cater to these small needs.

Why You Should Stick to Design Conventions

by admin

A mistake often made by people who are new to web design is thinking that they shouldn’t pay any attention to what has come before: they’re going to design a website the way they think one should work. You have to realise, though, that there’s a difference between being innovative and being arrogant. In almost all cases, you should be sticking to the conventions that have gradually developed during the life of the web so far.

There are Millions of Websites

Why would you need to do that? Well, if there were only a few hundred websites in the world, you wouldn’t – it’d be fine for people to have to learn a slightly different way of working to use yours. Unfortunately for you, though, there are literally millions of other websites. Even your most loyal visitor is overwhelmingly likely to be spending the majority of their time looking at other websites, not yours – and if your website doesn’t work similarly to the others, then they’re going to find your website hard to use.

The Learning Curve

When people come to your website, do you really want them to have to figure out how to use it before they can get started? Do you want to write big help files and FAQs just to explain it to them? Of course not. Part of the power of the web (as opposed to desktop programs, for example) is that it gives a consistent interface to all sorts of things. If you break this, then you’re making your site require some learning to be usable.

The web is competitive enough that, in most cases, your visitors will just desert you for your easier to use competitor – even if there isn’t one now, one can easily enough spring up and take advantage of the niche you created with your bad design.

What are the Conventions?

The web’s design conventions are simple, but effective, to the point that you probably don’t realise they’re there most of the time. Here are some examples:

Your logo should be a link to your homepage. The links on your navigation bar should all be internal links. Clicking a small picture will display a bigger version. Links go to HTML documents unless they’re clearly marked as a movie, PDF, etc. Things are bought by adding them to a ‘cart’ and then going through a ‘checkout’. Identity checks are done with a username and password system.

There are many, many more

What Happens When You Break Them?

People get annoyed. It’s immensely frustrating to want to see a bigger version of a picture on an e-commerce website and click it, only to get the same size picture in a new window or something equally stupid – annoying enough that I, at least, would go and look for a site that had a better picture.

Not only do people get annoyed, though, but they also get confused. If you put an external link on your navigation bar, for example, then people could think it’s part of your website – that creates all sorts of issues, since you have no control over external content.

Exceptional Circumstances

The only time you should break the web’s conventions is when your website is different enough to others that it will be worth people learning a better way to use it. For example, when Google launched Gmail, the world’s first webmail service with a gigabyte of storage space, they introduced an interface that used Javascript to change entire pages without reloading. That broke the web’s conventions, but worked well enough that the technique caught on, and is now starting to develop new conventions all of its own.

Don’t get carried away, though, and start thinking you’re more important than you really are. Your great new product is very unlikely to justify you adding streaming video to your homepage – it’s more likely to just annoy people (far better to add a large picture of the video and a ‘click here to see our new product’ headline). Know your website’s limits – for the most part, you should try to make it work as much like other websites as you possibly can.

The ultimate test is this: if you sit an experienced web user in front of your site, can they use it without getting confused? If they can’t, then it’s back to the drawing board.

Looking For Fridges Online

by admin

When you or your family are looking for an unbeatable price on fridges and freezers browsing online will be an awesome way to make sure you don’t squander time and money. Do not squander your cherished time scanning all around many businesses in search of the finest deals – simply log on and an exciting planet of fridges is waiting for you on-line.

In spite of this, with countless on line retailers how do you conceivably look into which one can make sure you don’t waste your currency on fridges whilst nevertheless guaranteeing you pick up a quality appliance. As best practice if you acquire your new appliance from an outlet on your high-street then you shouldn’t realistically have many major concerns about securing your items from their web-site, furthermore, as we all realise you will probably typically happen upon significantly lower prices online.

Quickly looking at a shoppers guide is always the very best place to start when surveying the market for fridges – buyers guides are commonly crammed with a great wealth of information and also effectively raise points you might well not have considered on your own. Theses important considerations include but are not limited to; energy consumption, extra features & storage capacity amongst additional things. Always shop with a brand you really trust when looking for quality fridges on the internet.

Do not forever go with the ‘cheapest price’ – extraordinarily ofttimes the initial cost you happen upon on a web-site may not include value added tax or delivery charges also, when you finally reach the card payment stage you will be paying a lot more than you first thought.

What date do you need it by? Not all online options offer swift delivery and if your current fridge has just stopped working you possibly might not wish to wait three weeks for your new fridge So be sure to forever check what the estimated delivery date shall be.

Find out the return policy – fridges are a tricky item to purchase; sometimes they seem fantastic in the showroom or on a web site but once you get it home you realise it doesn’t complement your kitchen at all. Therefore, you should always be careful.

Softball Bats Versus Baseball Bats

by admin

Although the differences between a softball bat and a baseball bat are not monumental, these do exist.

Take the size of the barrel. Softball bats have a maximum barrel diameter of 2 “, making it a bit difficult to make solid contact with the ball. On the other hand, baseball bats have a maximum diameter of 2 ” and have a longer range. .

Another characteristic is the shape of the softball bat from that of the baseball bat. Fast pitch softball bats have a shape of a bottle. The softball bat quickly tapers from the barrel area. This allows the barrel of the softball bat to be lengthened. The advantage it gives the softball bat is that it gives it more hitting area. Also, fast-pitch bats have a greater drop weight, which makes them lighter.

Another difference is softball bats have two markings that baseball bats do not have. One of these markings on the softball bat is the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) logo (which all softball bats must have), and a Bat Performance Factor (BPF) rating of 1.20. The Bat Performance Factor (BPF) is a method which determines one bat’s performance over another. All softball bats are required to have a BPF of 1.20.

However, there is one quality that softball bats and baseball bats share is that they are now composed of more durable composite materials. These materials are made up of carbon, glass and Kevlar® fibers embedded in a polymer matrix make:

  1. Softball bats lighter.
  2. Softball bats stiffer.
  3. Softball bats stronger.

This is because the newer composite softball bat materials are less prone to breakage, a safety and cost improvement. Then because innovative composite softball bat materials make the game safer; they can be customized for an individual or for league needs, making the game more enjoyable.

Softball bats anyone?

Exercising Ahead of Touring Gives Better Results and Prevents Injuries

by admin

Annually with the first ski weekends it’s the repeat narrative. Despite walking to the workplace, and an occasional trek, each winter season initiates on those torturous 1st couple of trips when Im abandoned in the route of junior and healthier snowboarding friends.

Being unfit whilst ski touring it’s difficult, and could be very hazardous. Skiing down one needs to have extra capability. If you are a tired skier you are likely to have injuries and weariness is likely to be a contributing ingredient to incidents, such as trips and crevasse falls.

There must be a easier manner to start the season, and a newly published 308 page report by Kyle Zamudio, who previously appears to tender a solution. Whilst directed at mountaineers the report is largely practical to ski touring, with its arduous scrambles besides other sports.

Cycling, training for peak performance is well researched and a good read. It’s a quality all round manual that gathers together a lot of research. You may evolve a specific cardiovascular regime or tune your current regime. Given that it’s calculated for climbers, thus a little of the techniques could be unsuitable for touring, it’s certainly a book to buy if you prefer to do a few of the long 24 hrs or multiple day routes.

The Key To Better Golf

by admin

Golf experts do agree on something. It’s not possible to play a good stroke if your balance isn’t maintained throughout the swing. Keeping your balance sounds pretty simple. But it’s nigh impossible when you have a death grip on the club, your arms and shoulders are stiff and you’re trying to hit the ball with every ounce of strength can muster.

Beginners are often warned to not try to hit the ball so hard. A little energy well directed and smoothly applied will drive the ball father than a monstrous effort that ends up not connecting the ball at the center of the club. If you’re balanced, you have more freedom when hitting the ball.

You want to keep your head in one spot, your eyes on the ball clearly. Actually the steadier you keep your head in one spot, the better you see the ball. This is all part of creating your foundation of balance. Anything that tips you off balance makes it impossible to see the ball clearly. You must keep your head still and not move it from the spot in which you start.

You can’t have your body rigid and your muscles tensed if you’re wanting to maintain your balance. Unless you relax your muscles, your head is going to move.

Practice in front of a mirror and you will see that your muscles really do need to be relaxed in order for you to keep your head still during a swing. No two people have the same frame or physique. So you have to work out some things for yourself. But always start with the foundation of keeping your head in one position. If your head is still, you can see the ball clearly and you will turn your hands at the right instant.

Just by keeping your head perfectly still you’ll correct a lot of faults. You can’t grip your club incorrectly without at some point disturbing your balance and moving your head. And you can’t keep your balance unless you follow through correctly.

If your mind is concentrated on keeping your balance and keeping your head still, you won’t overswing or jerk your club away. You won’t put forth too much effort forth at any one point. You won’t be stiff and you’ll have a smooth, even rhythm to your swing and a nice finish.

Balance really is the cure-all for many faults of golf. It takes time before you see improvement, so be patient. Think about keeping your head still and maintaining your balance at all times and you will have a foundation for an excellent golf game.

Web Hosting: Which Is The Host With The Most?

by admin

So you want to publish a web site do you? Welcome to the club. These days it seems that almost everyone has a web site of some kind, and thousands more continue to be launched every day. It’s challenging enough to design a site and fill it with interesting content, but when all is said and done another challenge still remains – where to host it?

A popular choice for newbie webmasters, and even experienced ones, is to secure a free hosting plan with a company such as Yahoo! Geocities, Tripod or Angelfire. While these are easy to setup and free of charge, they do have limitations. Most free hosts don’t offer all the nice features that paid hosts do such as FTP access, CGI-BIN, or your own personal domain name. Instead you’re stuck with minimal features and a generic URL such as www.freewebhost.com/marcswebsite. This somewhat limits your web site’s potential. Most free hosts also require you to run banners or pop-up ads on your web site to make it worth their while – these banners and pop-ups can obstruct the view of your web page and ultimately annoy visitors and drive them away. Lastly, most free hosts have a daily bandwidth limit that is very small, so if you do get a lot of traffic you’ll most likely exceed the allotted bandwidth and your site will be temporarily disabled. Overall I would recommend free web hosts for people that are new to web hosting and want to get a feel for how it works. I’d also recommend them for web sites that are personal in nature (such as an online journal) as well as web sites that don’t plan to generate any revenue. Free web hosts are a great stepping stone to paid web hosts – I myself starting building web sites 4 years ago using free hosts, and today I run several high traffic web sites that are hosted on paid web hosting plans.

Now it’s time to get into the good stuff – paid web hosting. Web hosting companies that charge money for their services are plentiful on the Internet, and feature a wide array of hosting packages at various price points. First we begin with so called “budget” web hosts, who claim to offer you the world for only $1 per month. Having used numerous such companies I feel I must tell you to proceed with caution here, as these companies aren’t all that they are cracked up to be. Many claim to offer 24/7 e-mail support, which in my experience turned out to be 0/0 e-mail support. My e-mails were either never answered or answered a week after I sent them. Even when I got a response it was generic in nature and completely unhelpful. Also, expect frequent outages with these budget web hosts as they rarely even have their own web servers – often they are reselling space on someone else’s web servers over which they have no control. One budget web host I used went down unexpectedly for 6 days, and they didn’t even bother to notify their customers. As a result, my web site was down for 6 days and I lost most of my visitors as well as my hard-earned search engine rankings. Lesson learned: if the reliability and success of your web site is important to you, budget web hosting might not be the answer. However, this is not to say that all budget web hosts are bad – 1dollarhosting.com is one of the leaders in the budget web hosting arena and has quite a good reputation.

The next type of paid web host is what I refer to as a “mid-range” web host, meaning that they offer prices and service that will satisfy the majority of web sites out there. Mid-range web hosts like PowWeb, Your-Site.com and iPowerWeb offer packages ranging from $5 to $8 per month and provide the tools that most webmasters will need to run a web site, such as: CGI-BIN, tons of e-mail addresses, FTP support, visitor statistics and more. These hosts do have monthly bandwidth limits, but the limits are quite high, and most web sites will never reach them. However, if your web site features hundreds of file downloads and gets decent traffic you may be shocked at how soon you’ll reach those bandwidth limits. When you do, your site may be temporarily shut down or you’ll have to pay bandwidth overage charges, which can get pricey. Overall though, mid-range web hosts will be satisfactory for 90% of the web sites out there, and generally offer excellent uptime/reliability. In fact, many web-based businesses are successfully run using a mid-range web host. However, as mentioned previously, web sites that offer large files for download or sites that get a huge amount of traffic may find that a mid-range host doesn’t quite suit their needs. These types of web sites may require “high-end” web hosting solutions, the next topic in our discussion.

High-end web hosts typically service web sites that are extremely popular, have a high amount of traffic, and/or require pretty much 100% uptime. Most businesses rely on high-end web hosts to host their web sites. Rackspace.com is an example of a well known high-end web hosting company. Pricing for high-end hosts varies, but typically runs from about $50 per month to several hundred dollars per month. Many high-end hosts give you your own dedicated server (which they support) that is reserved just for you and your web site. The mid-range hosts I discussed earlier typically host many different web sites on the same server – this is known as “shared” hosting. High-end web hosts offer stellar reliability, bandwidth, and just about every tool you’ll ever need to run a successful web site. Another feature that some high-end web hosts provide is “co-location” hosting. In this scenario, YOU configure and provide the web server, but you get to plug it into their data center/network. This can be very nice because their data center usually has a fiber-optic connection directly to the Internet, offering blazing bandwidth and stellar reliability. People who run web-based businesses or extremely popular, high traffic web sites are good candidates for high-end web hosting.

Hopefully this brief overview gives you a good picture of the various types of web hosts that exist, and which one might be right for you. When you begin your search for a web host, always keep in mind the old adage “You get what you pay for” because it really does hold true in this case. Before you make the commitment to host a web site be sure to take some time and analyze what you want out of the web site, and decide which factors are most important to its success. Answering these questions will get you many steps closer to choosing the web host that’s right for you.

Marc Eberhart is an IT Project Manager, webmaster, and all-around Internet junkie. His web site http://www.webhostingdiscounts.net/ offers visitors 40% off web hosting plans with top-rated hosting companies.
