The Only Meteorite Hunting Ranch In America
Each year ten of thousands of meteorites hit the earth. They are worth big dollars to the finders. This is your chance to find one. You also will be able to say that you have entered the Twilight Zone, or better known as The Flying X Meteorite Hunting Ranch of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
Did you ever go on a strange vacation? Well this one is out of this world. When you come to Truth or Consequences to see the new space station that will launch tourists into space, do a little walking to find space junk…meteorites on our ranch. Hunting for meteorites does not have to be a bone chilling adventure to the Antarctic where the temperature is 50 below zero F and 50 mile per hour winds. Meteors enter the earth atmosphere everywhere. They impact everywhere. The trick in finding them is to look where they have had a good chance of impacting or where they have been concentrated by natural forces of the earth and HAVE NOT BEEN DESTROYED BY WEATHERING. This means deserts are a good place to search for meteorites. Deserts can change over the centuries. But deserts don’t alway have major weathering. Thus if you want to find meteorites you may want to come to our Truth or Consequences Ranch. It is located in New Mexico adjacent to the Chihuahuan Desert. There are trillions and trillions of terrestrial rocks for each meteorite that could be in this area. Metal detectors are used by many professional meteorite hunters around the world. Metal detectors can easily distinguish between ferrous and non ferrous rocks. Since not all meteorites are ferrous only the ferrous meteorites will be found by the metal detector. Modern metal detectors can balance out dominant background rocks. This inhances the detector to find the meteorites. Metal detectors creat a constant hum. The volume and pitch of this hum increases as the detector passes over the metallic object. There are hot rocks which produces a signal but is a false positive. Thus detecting requires concentration and you will see lots and lots of hot rocks. You must also keep a visual eye for other interesting rocks which can be meteorites. It seems that the best way to find meteorites from this area is to use a combination of metal detecting and good old-fashioned shoe-leather foot searching. The weather is not hard to predict for the Truth or Consequences area. Don’t bother to bring a rain coat, it only rains 10″ per year. The winters are mild as it is Southern New Mexico. It could get to 10F, but not for many days of the year. A clear sky with a gentle breeze is the norm.

Amazing Christmas Storage
I absolutely love the Christmas Holiday Season. There are so many activities and events that occur at this special time of the year. I take special care in preparing our home with lights, decorations candles and homemade goodies. We place lights on the out side of our home and decorate two live trees in the house along with several miniature trees. I also have two extensive holiday village that I place out. With all the decorations and dishware Christmas storage becomes quite an issue. I have found through the years that the greater amount of time I put into proper Christmas storage the better results I get.
We have an attic area that is formed in our bedroom due to the steep pitch of our roof. This area is about 30 feet long and 3 feet wide. We found large plastic bins to use for Christmas storage. The bins come in a variety of shapes, sizes and with varied features. The attic area gets very warm in the summer and cold in the winter so the things that are stored there cannot be affected by heat. I have found that on some ornaments that have glitter and other embellishments glued on them the glue may harden as a result of the temperature fluxes. For this reason the Christmas storage that I choose for the tree decorations are flat plastic boxes that can be slid under the bed in the spare bedrooms. For other items, like my village pieces the temperatures do not impact them. I try to keep as many of the original boxes and packaging for each item as possible. This does increase the space I need for Christmas storage, but it also prolongs the looks of the items. Also the boxes can be stacked neatly inside of the plastic bins without concern of breakage.
I do decorate in stages. The villages and the outdoor lights are put out the day after Thanksgiving. When I am putting away the Christmas storage I arrange the tubs so that the ones that are needed first are in the front. Each bin is clearly marked with permanent marker regarding what is in it. I also have numbered the bins so if my husband is putting them away he can arrange them numerically and I will have what I need first closest to the door.
Some items I dispose of at the end of each season. The small lights that are placed on the tree are very inexpensive and bulky to store. Also it seems that it takes hours to untangle the light strands each year. The small lights no longer are placed in Christmas storage; they are donated for events at the local school, and new ones are purchased each year.
If you take the time to organize your holiday items and pack them carefully the decorations and collectables will last for years. Due to my proper Christmas storage I have several items from my mother that will be passed on to my children.

Getting pet insurance is key to your pet’s welfare
Starting a family is a huge task. You’ll probably end up thinking twice .. no three times, four times before you want a kid. If not, you are in for a huge shock. Think about the money first of all that you need to pay for just the child birth. In Australia, it is about 3000 dollars in obstetrician fees if you go to a private doctor. Then, it is the constant buying of toys and games. If you are loaded, by all means go for it.
Another option you can do is to have a pet dog. Pet dogs are great. They are loyal and fun to play with and the best of it all, does not cost as much as a kid. The responsibilities are the same though. As an owner of the pet, you will need to register it so that when it gets lost and trust me when I say they will, having a tag always helps to get back him back to you. Or else, the poor thing will end up in SPCA and that will be it!
When I say that money is not a problem for pets, I actually lied a bit. The issue is when the pet has an accident of some sort and has to go to a vet. Let’s say the vet needs to do an operation. The out of pocket expense is substantial at this stage. You obviously have the option of letting the pet go as in putting him to sleep. But is that what you reall want? Take up the right pet insurance and cover yourself and your pet.
Your pet deserves better and you know it!

Being A Boston Sports Fan
Being a Boston sports fan means a lot of things. First and foremost, it means unwavering support for the home teams. It means cheering for them when they’re winning, and it means letting them know about it when they’re losing. It means being able to handle heartbreak, and put your chin up as you say, “Wait til next year”.
Being a Boston sports fan used to mean rooting for perennial also-rans. For the past four years though, it has meant rooting for Champions. With the Patriots winning three out of four Superbowls, and the Red Sox winning their first World Series in 86 years, it is a good time to be a Boston sports fan.
Being a Boston sports fan automatically means a dislike for New York teams that borders on and often surpasses hatred. While it’s the Yankees that are usually the recipients of our hatred, the other New York teams get no slack.
Being a Boston sports fan, means that you’re a Boston sports fan for life. Being a Boston sports fan, means that you’re Diehard.
Super Bowl XL
This is it: Super Bowl Sunday! The old adage “You win the turnover battle, you win the game,” is especially true come playoff time. Looking back at last season’s game, we find that the Patriots won the turnover battle 4-1, largely because of three Donovan McNabb interceptions. The Pats won the game 24-21, though they failed to cover. The year before, the Patriots and Panthers were even in the turnover department, 1-1. New England won again, 32-29, but failed to cover. Before that the Bucs had a huge edge in turnovers and destroyed the Raiders as a dog, 48-21, and before that the Patriots were a 14-point dog but won the turnover battle 3-0 in upsetting the Rams, 20-17.
Overall, the turnover department is huge. So who has the edge this Sunday? The Steelers are +7 on the season in turnovers, and the Seahawks are +9. Not much of a difference. In the payoffs, the Steelers won the turnovers battle +2 in their win at Cincinnati, and repeated that in a 34-17 rout at Denver in the AFC Championship game with a +4 edge in turnovers. However, they were minus-2 against the Colts, yet won the game 21-18. Seattle won the turnover battle in the NFC Championship rout of Carolina (+4), but were actually minus-2 against the Redskins, but still prevailed, 20-10.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this week’s Super Bowl preparation has been the war of words. Seattle TE Jerramy Stevens made the cardinal sin of dissing the enemy this week, saying about RB Jerome Bettis, “It’s a heartwarming story and all that, but it will be a sad day when he leaves without that Super Bowl trophy.” Oops! Big mistake. Seattle coaches no doubt took him aside and told him to keep his trap shut. The last thing anyone should do before a big game is give verbal fodder to fire up the opposition.
Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter responded by saying that the Steelers will be so physical in the Super Bowl they will try to make Seattle quit playing. Them sounds like fightin’ words, pardner! Porter said, “We’re going to try to tap out as many people as we can. We’re going to try to send as many people to the sideline as we can.” Someone is going to look like a hero on Sunday night, saying the opponent fired them up.
Rest assured, players and coaches seize on stuff like this. I recall five years ago when the Steelers were a double digit favorite in the AFC Championship game over the Patriots and made comments about how they already had their bags packed for the Super Bowl. After the Patriots’ 24-17 upset win, the New England players all spoke about how they were incensed that the Steelers would talk like that.
Added Porter, “Tell him he’s soft. He’s a tight end and I’ve never, ever been afraid of a tight end. They better not make him block me on Sunday. I bet they’re not going to make that coaching mistake.” Wow! You don’t usually hear trash talk like that the week of the Super Bowl.
Perhaps the most important thing to assess before this game is that the Seahawks have been outstanding at home the last few years, but mediocre on the road. Even this season they were 5-3 on the road, winning both playoff games at home. They have a significant edge at home partly because it’s a long road trip for opponents to Seattle, and also because of their 12th man — their raucous fans. That home field caused more opponents to be called for false starts than at any other venue in the NFL this season. That’s also an edge the Seahawks won’t be bringing to Detroit on Sunday. And they’ll be facing a tough, Pittsburgh team that just dispatched Cincinnati, Indy and Denver – all on the road! If Seattle wins this title, they will have to earn it without those edges. As I was searching through the old crafts that we normally do during the holiday season I found a sea shell Christmas ornament that looked just like a Victorian purse. I had to investigate this ingenious idea.
There are tons of designs and patterns you can make into seashell Christmas ornaments that it boggles the mind. You would think that these decorations would have a beach feel to them because of the material but the sea shell Christmas ornament that I saw was very tradition in color and detail.
The shell is a typical oyster-type in shape and it is white in color. The designer added a bow to the end of the sea shell Christmas ornament that is attached. The open end and all around that perimeter of the object is covered with a small string of pearls. There is a little lace detail in the seashell ornament that makes it look very traditional and feminine.
I found that these adorable ornaments were less than ten dollars per dozen so I added them to my holiday shopping list. I only ordered a dozen because I know that I am going to make a sea shell Christmas ornament like these in the future.
I love using a model when I craft instead of a pattern because it gives me the opportunity to experiment a little bit with the material. Since I work with an old-fashioned theme in my holiday décor I was really attracted to the traditional looking sea shell Christmas ornament.
However, there are many different seashell designs that are really beautiful. These items would be perfect for anyone who has a nautical theme in their home as well. The sea shell Christmas ornament is a great way to bring a little of the beach indoors no matter where you live.
